About

Every year, for 32 years, there's been a Country & Craft Fayre on The Recreation Ground at Staple.  These Fayres are organised by a small team of volunteers, the 'The Fayre Committee'.

The purpose of the Fayres is two-fold:  They provide a value-for-money, excellent day's entertainment for the residents and neighbours of Staple parish - and they also raise much needed funding for Staple's Clubs, Groups and organisations.

Each of Staple's various groups formally applies for a share of the post-fayre profits.  The application states how much is required/ what the money will be spent on / who will benefit from the donation.

For most Fayres, the Committee are able to fully meet all of the requests - but where this isn't  possible, then decisions are made based upon the merit of each request.  ( e.g. The number of people who will benefit from the donation / their current level of funding etc).

These events are a combination of many themes:

Rustic, rural crafts; such as trug making, basket making and wood-turning.

A Traditional Country Fair; with  attractions such as Maypole Dancing,  and Tossing The Bale.

'All The Fun of The Fair' type attractions; such as fairground rides, arena acts, clowns, hot dogs, popcorn, hot doughnuts and candy floss.

An Agricultural Show - with attractions such as vintage tractors, stationary engines and a tug-of-war.

A Summer Fair; with face painting, a bouncy castle, refreshments and a beer tent.

A Fun Park; with sideshows such as bowl for a pig and stocks.

Plus, there are classic cars, iconic motorcycles, a Pimm's bar, live music, and loads more!
